Ravvin Room

The main floor Ravvin room has a queen-sized bed, a detailed decorative ceiling and period picture rails and furnishings. A splendid feature is the sunburst stained glass is emphasized when the morning sun shines through the window.

The Ravvin Family owned the house from 1944-74. They also owned the largest furniture store in Calgary at the time called  ‘Ravvin’s Furniture’.

The Space

Experience the vintage charm of living in a 1912 rustic retreat, fully furnished in antiques. Every bedroom takes you back with antique cosy comfortable beds, desks, and private sitting areas. Play games in the bright sunroom. Dine by candlelight in the Arts and Craft dining room. Snuggle into our vintage family room attached to the rustic fully equipped gourmet kitchen complete with butcher block island and a vintage sink. Curl up in the cozy great room adorned with caribou and bearskin while enjoying the warmth of the fireplace. Sneak down the back stairs or make an entrance to the great room via the curving grand staircase.

Outdoors, enjoy the secluded brick patio with a fabulous wood burning fireplace just waiting for smore’s after your private barbecue.  There is also an outdoor adobe oven for gourmet cooking of pizza or bread. Parking for seven cars is available. Weddings and special events could be accommodated.

Five minute walk to pick up your groceries and wine or rent your hiking, biking, skiing, and snowshoeing equipment.  Plan your day horseback riding or kayaking. Birdwatching and fishing is only a 2 minute walk away.

Guest Access

You have full access to the main floor or upstairs depending on what room you take.  The home is 2100 square feet and includes an open gourmet fully equipped kitchen with a cosy family room and attached large dining room.  A lovely sunroom is set up for games and morning coffee. The great room has a grand curved staircase, vintage fireplace and adorned with caribou and bearskin.  The two bathrooms have vintage tubs and antique fittings. The large private upper hall is filled with paintings and you can escape down a secret back staircase.  There are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs with a hall. There are two bedrooms on the main floor and a bathroom off a private hall.

Outside there is a  wooded 1/2 acre property for your use.  A secluded patio hosts a large brick fireplace surrounded by Adirondack chairs and an outdoor adobe oven for baking pizza or bread. We have two bikes for your use, if you like. Ample free parking.

Everything you need is available within a five minutes walk.

Getting Around

The quaint village of Bragg Creek has lovely walking and bike paths along the Elbow river that end up at the Bragg Creek provincial park.  For those wanting more action, the Canada trail goes all the way into the Kananaskis Provincial Park and the Rocky Mountains.

There is so much to see in Alberta that we would recommend a car. Parking is provided.  If you wish to escape to our rustic retreat everything you need is within walking distance and we can help arrange for transportation to and from the airport and to any destinations that’s on your memory making list.  The retreat is so relaxing and tranquil you may never want to leave….
